"The paintings themselves are both untitled, oil on canvas, and about 38"x32". The close ups are roughly 12" to maybe 6" sections give or take of those two paintings. One is meant to focus on the brushwork of a more finished area, while the other two are areas that are still in progress and are meant to show the changes those areas have undergone and unfinished/in-progress nature of my work as it comes together, including things moving, colors changing, lose brushwork, drips, measurement lines, palette knife scrapes and more."

"This work was inspired by the empty and idle space that characterized my days during the beginning of self-quarantine. In the absence of social activity and face to face communication with others, I explored my own inner life iteratively through layering lines, shapes and colors in both additive and reductive ways. I hope I conveyed the restlessness and rapid changes in mood that defined my initial experiences with self-quarantine."

"I recently started felting, both wet and needle felting. The processes allow for textures on both sides of the works. I love the backs of the needle felted pieces so much because they remind me of landscapes or growing colonies of moss or coral. I am working in small spaces, so I see these up close and rarely get to step away from them."

"These close-ups are moments from current long-term painting projects that are sculptural in nature, with many different scenes populating maquette-like spaces. In a way, they become many paintings in one, building narrative motifs around the memories that shape how I understand my personal experiences."

"My inspiration comes from the calming effect I experience from nature. The transitioning colors create a meditative space by giving the perception that time is slowing down."

"The detail images are from video stills from my most recent video piece. These details to me are frozen fragments of larger ideas I evoke in my video: the thrilling ness and uncertainty of being alive. Alone, they still carry these ideas because of what I thought about while creating them, but they also now have become more tangible as they are no longer time-based media. The detail stills take on their own identity as completely new pieces."
